Mini Rant
Okay since I don’t want to do an extremely long winded post I am going to try sum up my story with bullets and small paragraphs. :)
So yesterday a buddy of mine was trying to sell me on online dating. His arguments for why I should try it were:
- It’s easy and safe.
- I have no reason not to.
- We are 30 minutes from a decent sized city so there are tons of people.
- We are less than a half hour away from like 15 sororities………..
Yeah that last one blew my mind a bit. I am about the last person who would date a sorority girl. There are a myriad of reason why I wouldn’t, so I started to question him about the sorority point. It lead to this statement
Why would you not want to date the statistical smartest and most talented group of girls on campus?
At this point I thought I had suffered a stroke. But let’s stop here for a second. My buddy is a former Greek, which means anything he says about Greek life carries an extreme bias. Which also makes his last point come off as fairly arrogant and kills his argument.
From there he proceeded to tell me how sorority girls just act dumb, and that they are all just trying to get jocks as status symbols. Yup, that was a terrible argument.
Anyways the moral of the story is Greeks tend to go against everything I seem to strive for. I don’t want to date someone who is fake on the outside, is constantly chasing status, and is striving to be part of the “pack”. I would rather be alone than be with someone like that.
